'You didn't clean up our mess fast enough'

Democrats
Automat --

Sometimes it seems like the other side thinks Americans are dumb.

Their message right now is: You didn't clean up our mess fast enough.

Mitt Romney and the Republicans want to take our country back to tax cuts for millionaires and billionaires and let Wall Street write the rules.

We've seen that movie before, we know how it ends, and none of us wants a sequel.

Will you chip in $5 or more before tonight's midnight deadline?

My last campaign

Automat --

In a few days, I'll be hitting the trail for my last campaign.

Everything we've accomplished in the past three years -- and our chance to do so much more -- is on the line.

What we do today will be a measure of whether or not we're ready to fight for it.

Donate $3 or whatever you can before tonight's fundraising deadline.

By pitching in before midnight, you'll automatically be in the running to join me and George Clooney at his place on May 10th.

It's not often I can get away from work, so I look forward to spending a fun evening in L.A. with a couple supporters like you.

In the meantime, let's close out this deadline strong:

31 Republican men

Democrats
Automat --

This week, the Senate voted overwhelmingly to reauthorize the Violence Against Women Act. Here's how the vote went: Sixty-eight in favor, thirty-one against.

Each of the 31 senators who voted against it were Republican men.

Every time these guys get the chance to put women's health before politics, they fail to.

Democrats are facing an important FEC fundraising deadline this Monday at midnight.

Stand with the only party standing up for women in 2012 -- donate $3 or more to Democrats today.

I should add that these 31 men are the only senators to ever cast a vote against reauthorizing this act: The Senate reauthorized it unanimously twice in the last twelve years.

The Republican party of today is a different breed altogether.

If it comes down to scoring points with the GOP base or protecting women, they're going to choose the base every time.

Next, this legislation goes to the House. The House GOP is planning on introducing a bill with the same name, but their version of the Violence Against Women Act will likely strip out the very provisions protecting Native Americans, undocumented immigrants, and LGBT Americans we just fought for.

Before the House votes on the bill, before the GOP even introduces it, we need to spread the word far and wide on how they're trying to dupe us into thinking they're doing the right thing. From now until November, we're going to call them out on the air, online, and on the ground.

The Democratic Party is planning to make sure everyone knows who's really fighting for women this year.

Join the fight by making a contribution today:

"The worst presidential campaign money can buy"

Democrats
Automat --

Remember the mysterious, secretly funded, Koch-brothers-backed group called Americans for Prosperity, which flushed millions into the 2010 election to help Tea Party Republicans take back the House? This is the same group that, along with Sarah Palin, supported and rallied for Scott Walker's fight in Wisconsin to strip union workers of collective bargaining rights.

Well, they're back -- with a "multi-million dollar," "massive ad launch" to slam President Obama.

We could face some serious damage -- unless we fight back right away.

Before Monday's critical FEC fundraising deadline, and before the damage is done, fight back against the Koch brothers' ad assault right now with a donation of $3 or more.

"We are about to have the worst presidential campaign money can buy," a Washington Post columnist recently wrote about super PACs and outside groups' new ability to raise and spend money.

Just look at pro-Romney super PAC spending during the GOP primary to get a glimpse of what we're up against.

Outside groups are running millions of dollars in ads right now, with the express purpose of beating us before we even get the chance to fight back.

Here's the kicker: This is in addition to Karl Rove's American Crossroads super PAC and Crossroads GPS, which plan to spend as much as $300 million and recently announced that they are already $100 million to their goal.

His group is spending $1.7 million on ads right now attacking the president in six swing states critical to winning in November: Ohio, Florida, Nevada, Colorado, Iowa, and Virginia. They also just launched ads in five states to help the GOP take the Senate this year.

We're facing a big fundraising deadline at midnight on Monday -- and we're facing Karl Rove and the Koch brothers.

If you want to be part of defending President Obama's record, our progress, and Democrats up and down the ticket, now's the time to get in.

Chip in $3 or more to make sure we're prepared to fight back today:

Clooney and me

Automat --

I'll be going to a special event at George Clooney's house in a few weeks, and two grassroots supporters and their guests will join us.

The only thing we've still got to figure out is whether two spots belong to you and your guest -- or somebody else and theirs.

So let's nail it down: Any donation you make today will automatically enter you and a guest to win.

Once you decide who you're inviting to join you, we'll be all set. The campaign will take care of your airfare and hotel for you.

Please pitch in $3 or whatever you can today, and keep your May 10th clear:

https://my.democrats.org/Clooney-and-Me

Hope to see you soon.

Romney's response? Silence.

Democrats
Automat --

Yesterday, Romney surrogate Ted Nugent called the Obama administration "vile," "evil," and "America-hating."

Then he said, "If Barack Obama becomes the president in November again, I will either be dead or in jail by this time next year."

Romney's response? Silence.

Threatening violence -- or whatever it is that Nugent's threatening -- is clearly beyond the pale, but Nugent's not the one running for president. The question is: Does Romney agree with him? Right now, we don't know.

This is a person who says he endorsed Romney after a "long heart and soul conversation."

Shortly after the news broke I called on Romney to denounce Nugent's violent, hateful comments. Join me here by adding your name.

Bad behavior among prominent Romney supporters has not been limited to aging former rock stars.

Texas billionaire Harold Simmons has pledged to donate as much as $36 million to the GOP and their allies, calling Obama "the most dangerous American alive."

Silence from Romney.

Rush Limbaugh attacked Sandra Fluke in the most vile way -- and Romney refused to condemn it, managing only to say it's "not the language I would have used."

Foster Friess, who gave $1.7 million to Santorum's super PAC and is now backing Romney, said recently he hopes President Obama's "teleprompters are bulletproof."

Governor Romney? Silent.

We have more than 200 days to go in this election. If the GOP and Romney are willing to accept this kind of rhetoric at this stage of the campaign, I can't imagine what they'll accept in September and October.

So far, all Romney has said about Nugent is that it's "been fun getting to know him."

Let's put a stop to it now. Add your name alongside mine and other Democrats', and call on Romney to denounce Nugent's comments:

Now we know

Automat --

We now know who our opponent is.

But what we're really fighting against is what our opponent has pledged to do if elected.

He would shower billionaires with more huge tax breaks, oppose setting a timeline to bring our troops home from Afghanistan, starve investments in clean energy research, and make it harder for students to afford to go to college. He'd outlaw a woman's right to choose and completely cut funding for Planned Parenthood.

We can't afford an endless war in Afghanistan, a return to policies that hurt the middle class, and a social agenda from the 1950s.

The stakes and the differences are profound. The outcome of this election will determine the course of this country for decades to come.

I need you by my side.

How Romney buried Santorum

Democrats
Automat --

The whole race changed yesterday.

With Rick Santorum dropping out, the Republicans are finally coalescing behind Mitt Romney.

That means that every super PAC, special interest, and big donor in the Republican Party is pouring money into helping Mitt Romney wage his attacks on President Obama.

Romney was able to bury his primary opponents under an onslaught of negative ads. We need to make sure this tactic doesn't work against Democrats between now and November.

It's time to step up.

We've been fighting for months, but today is different. We know exactly who we're fighting against for the White House.

$300 million

Democrats
Automat --

Huge news -- Karl Rove's super PAC, American Crossroads, is launching its first major "anti-Obama" ad campaign this year.

With plans to spend as much as $300 million, yesterday they announced a plan to destroy President Obama's standing with voters in key battleground states in an ad blitz slated from now until July.

Why so early? They said they hope to "dislodge voters from him" before the general election even starts.

We can't stop their ads -- but we can fight back with every resource we have.

Pitch in $5 or more today to push back against American Crossroads' early ad blitz.

Here's something that gets me especially fired up: Their attack line in these ads is apparently going to be that the President isn't "up for the job." This is coming from Karl Rove and other former Bush advisors -- the exact same people who championed the reckless economic policies that brought us to the brink of another Great Depression -- and left us holding the bag. It's pretty outrageous.

This news of their massive -- and entirely negative -- ad campaign shows they're not interested in letting their nominee compete against President Obama in earnest. They don't want to run on the issues, or let voters choose between two visions for our country -- they just want to destroy Barack Obama.

The worst part is it could work. Look at how Romney and his super PAC have beaten Santorum and Gingrich: they come in state-by-state, drop millions in negative ads, and jump his poll numbers by sometimes more than double-digits to win.

It doesn't matter if it's true. If you can afford to put lies on TV 30 times a day, folks could start to reconsider the truth.

We're not going to let that happen. For every negative ad they throw up on the air, we'll launch rapid response communications, and, yes, even our own ads to set the record straight.

I need to know you're ready for this fight -- even if it's earlier than we expected.

Donate $5 or more right now to fight back against American Crossroads' lies:

We're sending this one to the RNC

Democrats
Automat --

The Republicans' anti-women's health agenda is, according to the head of the GOP, a "fiction."

That's right -- Reince Priebus says it's just a figment of our imagination.

Let me just say these attacks are very real to the millions of women whose access to health care is on the line, thanks to threats to defund Planned Parenthood and the GOP fight to limit access to birth control.

If you're with me on this one, we'll make sure Priebus sees your name on this petition.

We'll collect as many names as we can and deliver them to the RNC headquarters, to give them a strong dose of reality.

It's no coincidence that women are fleeing the Republican Party in droves.

This is the party that supported Virginia Governor Bob McDonnell's ultrasound law, which forces women considering abortions to undergo a medically unnecessary procedure.

For the women opposed to forced ultrasounds, Pennsylvania's Governor Tom Corbett's answer is to just "close your eyes" and deal with it. This is the "conservative leadership" that Mitt Romney praises.

As for Romney, he has promised repeatedly to defund Planned Parenthood, a 95-year-old organization that is many women's only option for health care. And his No. 1 goal if he gets to the White House: repeal Obamacare, which means turning the clock back to when being a woman was considered a pre-existing condition, and charging us up to 50% more than men for the same health care coverage.

This anti-women's health agenda is not a "fiction" -- and, no matter how many times the GOP denies its existence, this issue isn't going away.

Join me today. Add your name alongside mine:
