You should be very, very concerned
|Friend -- |
I've served in the United States Senate as part of the majority, and I've also spent some time as the minority party.
Trust me -- being in the minority is not how you get anything done.
Chip in $10 or more to support Democrats before tonight's fundraising deadline, and make sure Democrats hold on to our majority.
If you want to make sure that bills like Paul Ryan's budget have no chance of making it to the President's desk, you should be very, very concerned about not letting the Republicans take over the Senate in November.
If you don't want the Republicans to be rewarded for their politics of obstructionism, you should be very, very concerned about not letting them take over the Senate in November.
The good news is that you don't just have to be concerned. You can do something about it:
P.S. -- If you chip in before midnight, you'll be automatically entered to meet Barack in San Francisco next week -- and get free airfare and hotel for you and a guest.
I'm asking you to help

When I first took office, a bunch of people (some of them pretty cynical) said that we'd never be able to pass comprehensive health reform -- but we proved them wrong.
In 2012, they said that we'd lose the election, and Republicans would repeal the law -- but we proved them wrong.
Last year, they said nobody would sign up for coverage through the exchanges -- but we proved them wrong and helped 8 million Americans access new, affordable health insurance.
Now they think Republicans can win elections in November by offering only one idea: Repeal Obamacare.
You can help prove them wrong again.
Before the fundraising deadline at midnight tonight, chip in $10 or whatever you can to help Democrats defend Obamacare:
P.S. -- I'm going to be in San Francisco next week, and, if you chip in before midnight, you'll be automatically entered to meet me there -- airfare and hotel for you and a guest are on us.

You do so much for Barack and me, so we want to do something special for you. The Democrats have put together a special opportunity for a grassroots supporter to meet the President, because you really deserve it. If you win, you and a guest will get free airfare to San Francisco.
All you have to do is chip in $10 or whatever you can, and you'll be automatically entered.
Your hotel and accommodations are covered, which is a great deal. You can't beat that.
Your donation will help Democrats facing important elections this year, but before we buckle down and begin our sprint to the finish, we wanted to provide this opportunity to thank you for all that you've done.
So don't be shy, throw your name in the hat:
Thanks for all you do,

We'll fly you in to meet President Obama in San Francisco

You can win this (trust me)
I'm going to let you in on a secret: The best part of winning a contest to meet President Obama isn't getting to meet President Obama.
It's getting to tell someone you love that you're going to take them to meet President Obama. When I told my daughter that I was going to have the chance to introduce her to the President, I had to tell her twice before she processed it -- then she screamed!
But don't take my word for it, chip in $10 or whatever you can today, and you and a guest will be automatically entered to fly out to the Bay Area to meet President Obama -- with your airfare and accommodations comped.
Don't get me wrong, meeting the President is pretty great. He was very kind and interested in who we are and where we're from -- he even took a selfie with my daughter! It was an experience that I'll never forget, and I'm sure my daughter won't either.
If you're like me, you can chip in here and there to support Democrats. So why not do it today? Trust me: the mom (or dad/daughter/boyfriend/wife/etc.) points you could earn from this are worth it:
P.S. -- I know, I know -- you never win these things. Well, that's what I used to say, until...

Cross some items off your bucket list

We'll cover your hotel in San Francisco
So let me give you some advice -- if you get to meet the President in San Francisco in two weeks, pack a backup outfit, just in case.
Chip in $10 or whatever you can right now, and you and a guest will be automatically entered to meet President Obama -- we'll pick up your accommodations (but you've got to bring your own blazers).
If you win, we'll put you up in a nice hotel in the Bay Area, and you'll get to meet the President at an event where you'll mingle with a bunch of people who can probably tell you about some really cool apps to download.
So give it a shot, and maybe think about picking up something new -- because you'll want to look good when you meet the President.

The Republicans have made it pretty clear that Paul Ryan's budget -- the same budget that you, Barack, and I fought against in 2012 (and won!) -- is their platform for these midterm elections. In fact, they just voted for it again in the House of Representatives.
Can you sign your name right now, to let the Republicans know you won't stand for the Ryan plan in 2014 either?
Let's be plain about this: This budget is fundamentally at odds with what we believe. It would directly hurt millions of hardworking Americans and their families. It turns Medicare into a voucher program. And it would repeal Obamacare.
If Republicans hold on to their majority in the House and win back control of the Senate in November -- and believe me, that's a real possibility -- then I can guarantee you that we'll see more backwards proposals like this one coming out of a Republican Congress for the rest of this President's time in office.
The only way we can put a stop to Republicans' bad ideas, like those in the Ryan budget, is to leave everything on the field every single day from now until Election Day. So today, stand with the Democrats who are going to fight Paul Ryan's budget and all the other plans Republicans come up with that would harm the middle class:
