Here's what happened when you called Senate Republicans:
|I am just blown away. |
Last week, thousands of Democrats from across the country called Senate Republicans and demanded that they do their jobs and hold hearings to confirm Chief Judge Merrick Garland.
Here's one fun fact: So many of you called Mitch McConnell that he had to shut down his phone lines due to the high volume of calls! (Although that left Walt from Moss Beach, California wondering if "the kind of message I heard in essence tells me they're really not interested in hearing from an American citizen voter.")
But rest assured, your calls made a difference. Thanks to everything they heard from some of the two-thirds of Americans who want senators to do their jobs, a handful of Republicans have already reversed course and agreed to hold meetings with Chief Judge Garland.
But as Paul from Plymouth, New Hampshire pointed out to his Republican senator, Kelly Ayotte, "meeting is great, but I'm calling to ask her to change her position and please support a hearing and a vote on Judge Garland's nomination."
We've got to keep the pressure on Senate Republicans to do their jobs and hold hearings for the President's Supreme Court nominee. Add your name right now to keep making your voice heard:
Thanks so much for every single thing you're doing.
All the best,
Amy K. Dacey
Chief Executive Officer
Democratic National Committee
P.S. -- Maryann from Gatesville, North Carolina wasn't impressed with the response she got from Sen. Richard Burr's office and "informed them his opponent will be getting my donation." Way to go, Maryann! Want to follow her lead? Then pitch in $3 or what you can to help us take back the Senate in November.
