Shut. It. Down.
A few weeks ago, Donald Trump's "voter fraud" commission, led by Mike Pence and voter suppression kingpin Kris Kobach, took an unprecedented step to help prove Trump's biggest lie -- that millions of Americans illegally voted in the 2016 election.
Pence and Kobach demanded that each state hand over its records for every voter, including personal information, party registration, and voting history.
We knew from the beginning that this commission was nothing more than a way for Trump and the GOP to make it harder for people to vote. This request makes it clear as day that this sham commission must be shut down.
Voting is our most important constitutional right, and how we exercise that right is deeply personal. Who you vote for, and when and how you cast your ballot, is certainly not the business of this commission.
Almost every state has refused to hand over this information, but the idea that it might happen has already started pushing people away from the polls -- you almost have to wonder if that was the plan the whole time.
And with this dangerous administration and GOP-controlled Congress, the last thing we need is for fewer people to vote.
It's time for Donald Trump to stop playing games with the right to vote and shut down this ludicrous commission once and for all. Add your name if you agree:
