I wish I could say I was surprised

Racism has no home in the White House.
DemocratsJoin us.
Tell Trump to fire Seb Gorka, Stephen Miller, and every white supremacist in his administration.

Friend --

When Donald Trump finally brought himself to speak out on the terrible events in Charlottesville this past weekend, he didn't condemn hatred or white supremacy or people who marched wearing swastikas on their arms. He blamed "many sides."

And as he's continued to address the nation in the days that have followed, he's made it clear that he accepts the support of the violent, white supremacist mob because he thinks it will help him politically. I wish I could say I was surprised.

One of my favorite poets, Maya Angelou, once said: "When someone shows you who they are, believe them the first time." Donald Trump started his campaign with hate, and we knew his presidency would be no different after he surrounded himself with men -- like Steve Bannon, Seb Gorka, and Stephen Miller -- who have given these vile groups platforms to speak on.

He showed us who he was and what he stood for the first time.

So if Donald Trump can ever truly reject hate, he needs to start by removing the enablers of white supremacy from his administration. Firing Steve Bannon -- as thousands of us called for -- is a start, but he needs to do more.

Words alone are not enough. Tell Donald Trump to take action against hate:

Thank you,

Keith

Every white supremacist must go (add your name)

Friend --

I don't think it's unreasonable to expect that the most hateful elements of our society won't have a voice at the highest levels of government.

But the fact is that even with Steve Bannon gone, Donald Trump's inner circle still includes prominent white nationalists and enablers of white supremacy.

Seb Gorka, one of Trump's top aides, is a member of a Hungarian Nazi organization. Senior advisor Stephen Miller is a devotee of Richard Spencer, a leader of the so-called alt-right who cheered on Trump's disgraceful response to the events in Charlottesville.

These men are so far below anyone who should be serving in government, and it's beyond disturbing they continue to have the ear of the President of the United States. And as long as they remain among his closest advisors, Trump can never truly reject the hatred that they perpetuate.

Tens of thousands of Democrats signed on to call on Trump to fire Bannon in the past few days -- and today we were successful. Now, we are calling on Donald Trump to fire Gorka, Miller, and anyone else with ties to white supremacy in his administration -- today.

BREAKING: Democrats introduce resolution to censure Trump

Republicans must renounce all enablers of white supremacy
DemocratsJoin us.
It's not enough to reject hatred -- Republicans must denounce Donald Trump for enabling white supremacists. Add your name to call on Republicans to censure Trump:

Friend --

In the aftermath of Charlottesville, it's become clear that Donald Trump has allowed white supremacists and Nazis to find a home in the Republican Party. So it is not enough for Republicans to simply tweet that they oppose hatred and bigotry -- they must denounce Donald Trump.

Today, House Democrats are introducing a resolution to censure Donald Trump for his defense of the white supremacist mob in Charlottesville.

So, Republicans in Congress have a choice: they can declare their support for our American values, or they can stand with the leader of their party who has embraced white supremacists and given voice to their cause.

We call on all House Republicans to join with Democrats and censure Donald Trump. Sign your name right now to join the call:

It's not enough to reject hatred -- Republicans must denounce Donald Trump for enabling white supremacists. Co-sign Tom's letter to the Chairwoman of the GOP:

Friend --

When white supremacists and Nazis march in our streets, wearing swastikas and chanting racist slogans, threatening to burn synagogues and committing violent acts of terrorism, simply denouncing them does not go far enough. We must also hold accountable all those who embrace these elements of our society or embolden their cause.

Donald Trump has allowed white supremacists, neo-Nazis, and the Ku Klux Klan to find a home in the Republican Party. First through his silence in the immediate aftermath of Charlottesville and then with his words since, he has given them cause to feel empowered.

So it is not enough for the Republican Party to reject their hateful ideology -- they must also renounce Donald Trump.

Yesterday, I sent a letter to the Chairwoman of the Republican Party to remind her that her party has to not only reject the white supremacists but also the enabler they have found in Donald Trump.

You can read the letter below, and then sign your name next to mine -- call on the Republican Party to join us on the right side of history and disavow Donald Trump:

As Democrats, we will keep fighting against racism and oppression in all its forms, and we will never stop working to lift up our Democratic values that make this country great.

Thank you,

Tom

Tom Perez
Chair
Democratic National Committee

Dear Chairwoman McDaniel,

When we met in July, you said: "We have to have reasonable discussions, have a dialogue, be respectful of each other."

In recent days, some of the least reasonable, least respectful members of our society have risen to prominence with a message of pure hatred. They chanted racist and anti-Semitic slurs. They wore swastikas, made the Nazi salute, and celebrated symbols of slavery and mass genocide. They instilled fear in our communities and they murdered a woman in a clear act of domestic terrorism.
The leader of your Republican Party, President Trump, responded first with silence, then with begrudging condemnation, and most recently with words that embolden white supremacy. He tore open the scars of history while creating a dangerous false equivalency between those upholding racism and those fighting to defeat it.

Madam Chairwoman, the white hoods are gone. They march in torchlight now, unafraid to show their faces. They see the president as their leader and fiercest defender.

There is no denying that these white supremacists, neo-Nazis, and the Ku Klux Klan have made their home in this president's Republican Party. As chairwoman, you bear a responsibility not just to reject hateful ideology generally, but to hold accountable the individuals in your party who have allowed that ideology to flourish.

You bear a responsibility to stop Donald Trump.

There are not "many sides" to the issue of white supremacy. There is right and wrong. Those who gathered in Charlottesville in the name of racism were wrong, and it is up to all of us to stand up for what is right.

Will history remember your party as one that surrendered to a man who empowered neo-Nazis? Will history remember you as the chair who allowed white supremacy to spread with your party's blessing?

Many of America's greatest heroes made the ultimate sacrifice fighting against the same evil ideology on the rise today. Party affiliation had nothing to do with it. If you share their patriotism, you should disavow President Trump now.

Last weekend, the American people  --  Democrats and Republicans alike  --  saw the streets of Charlottesville flood with evil. They heard the bloodthirsty chants of bigotry. And they are demanding action. It's time for both of our parties to unite against these white supremacists and all of their enablers  --  including the president of the United States. Will you join us on the right side of history?

Tom

Rise and organize

DemocratsJoin us.
Friend --

Today, for the second time, Donald Trump used every excuse in the book to avoid having to call racists racist. Instead, he praised the alt-right, white supremacists, and neo-Nazis. He stood shoulder-to-shoulder with them and endorsed their cause.

It is sickening, and I know that, for many of us, it is frightening.

But we will not lose hope. We will not give in to fear. We will rise above Donald Trump's hatred, and we will organize to defeat him.

Make sure Trump knows that you will never back down:

We're holding Sen. Heller accountable - take a look

We have a new ad.
DemocratsJoin us.
Pitch in $3 or whatever you can to help Democrats hold Republicans accountable.

Friend --

After 49 Senate Republicans voted to take our health care away, we pledged to hold them accountable. Now, we're taking action against our first target: Nevada Sen. Dean Heller.

We launched new ads to make sure Nevadans know how Dean Heller betrayed them. Take a look -- they were outside Heller's office yesterday and are on interstates around Las Vegas this week -- and then pitch in to help us keep turning the screws.

Our billboards in Las Vegas -- load images.

Dean Heller knew repeal would be a disaster, and he promised Nevadans he'd oppose it.

But he went back on his word, casting the deciding vote in the Senate to move forward with repeal, and then collected his reward -- a promise from a super PAC linked to Mitch McConnell to spend $1 million to defend him.

So when Dean Heller steps outside of his office, we'll make sure he knows we won't let him get away with choosing Donald Trump over the people of Nevada.

This is just the start of how we're holding Heller and his fellow Republicans accountable for voting to take our health care away. Chip in $3 or more to make sure we can give it all we've got to fight back.

It is incumbent on all of us to speak out

I hope you will join a vigil for Charlottesville near you
DemocratsJoin us.
Friend --

What happened in Charlottesville this weekend was an act of domestic terrorism.

It was an act that should have been met with a swift and unequivocal denunciation from the highest levels of our government.

It should not take intense public pressure to force the President of the United States to condemn white supremacy. It should not take days of silence for the leader of this country to denounce Nazis and the KKK. But it did.

History will not forget that when the streets of Charlottesville echoed with evil, Donald Trump responded with silence.

We will not be silent. We will speak out against white supremacy, fascism, racism, and oppression in every form -- it is incumbent on all of us who are able to do so.

Tonight, and throughout the week, there will be vigils across the country to join in solidarity with Charlottesville and all those who are standing against hate.

I hope you will join a vigil near you and use your voice to bend the arc of history more firmly towards justice:

Thank you,

Friend --

When Congress returns from recess next month, Republicans will get to work trying to rescind DACA, President Obama's protections for undocumented immigrants who were brought to the U.S. as children. Some Republican attorneys general have even threatened to take Trump to court if he doesn't end DACA before Labor Day.

We have to match the pressure coming from the far-right wing of the GOP. Make sure Trump and his allies in Congress hear us loud and clear -- do not rescind DACA.

Immigrants are the heart and soul of our country. If Donald Trump ends DACA, hundreds of thousands of young people will be at risk of deportation -- being ripped away from their families and, for many, forced out of the only country they've ever called home.

Stand with our immigrant neighbors today. Join Democrats and tell Trump not to rescind DACA:
